Stevie Nicks and Pretenders to play in Dunedin November 24th - 10th Aug 2017

Stevie Nicks is coming back to Dunedin.

The Fleetwood Mac star will return to Forsyth Barr Stadium with The Pretenders, fronted by Chrissie Hynde, on November 24 for a double-act South Island exclusive show.

Nicks' return will come just over two years after Fleetwood Mac's sell-out 2015 show, which drew a crowd of 35,000.

Thousands of fans were expected to travel to Dunedin for the show

''What a result for the city and the South to welcome back Stevie Nicks and to have The Pretenders as well.''

It was the latest coup for the stadium, which earlier this year announced three Ed Sheeran concerts for March and April next year, potentially drawing up to 120,000 fans to the venue - many from outside Dunedin.

Tickets to Stevie Nicks and The Pretenders go on sale at 1pm on Friday, August 18.

Their Dunedin show comes days after both perform at Auckland's Spark Arena on November 21.

Event promoter Live Nation, in a statement yesterday, said fans would be treated to ''full individual sets'' by both Steve Nicks and The Pretenders.

Nicks, a Grammy-nominated, multi-platinum selling artist, has written songs including Landslide, Gold Dust Woman and Rhiannon.

As a member of Fleetwood Mac, she performed 122 sold-out shows during a world tour starting in 2014 and with shows in Dunedin and Auckland in November 2015.

The Pretenders, an English-American rock band, has sold more than 25 million albums and boasted hits including Brass In Pocket, I'll Stand By You, Back On The Chain Gang and Don't Get Me Wrong.
